Whinlatter has systems in place to keep visitors and staff safe from Covid-19. Please read this important guidance and contact the site on 017687 78469 if you have any questions.

Before you arrive:

Whilst at Whinlatter:

  • Arrive at the Visitor Centre 10 minutes prior to your hire slot.

  • Sanitise your hands before entering the Visitor Centre and wear a face covering if you are able to.

  • For new members it’s essential for our staff to provide an induction on how to use the Tramper. This will be done with social distancing in place and staff will be wearing a face covering and gloves.

Recovery from the forest in case of an emergency:

It is very rare that there are any issues of breakdown with the Tramper. If something unforeseen does happen Forestry England are currently unable to recover members of the public. Should this happen, you need to have a person with you who is able to drive their own vehicle into the forest (escorted by a staff member of Forestry England) to recover you. If this is not possible or the incident requires it, the emergency services will be called (ambulance or mountain rescue) to recover you from the forest.
