If you’ve seen our advert for a new Charity Development Manager, you may be wondering what is happening to Julia, who has been leading the charity right from the start.
Happily, Julia is still very much a part of Lake District Mobility – and will be joining our Trustee Board, who take responsibility for the charity, to help steer LDM into the future.
And she’ll also be taking on a very important new challenge personally – becoming a full time foster carer, with the support of her husband, Murray (pictured with Julia), and their two children.
Lake District Mobility was Julia’s idea – and without her the charity would not exist. It was born from her passion for making sure that everyone is included, and was inspired by her late grandfather – a keen mountaineer in his youth – and her own experience of being a wheelchair user when recovering from a broken pelvis.
We’re delighted to have Julia as a new Trustee, and she’s really looking forward to working with the next Charity Development Manager to help take the charity to the next level.
She said: “They say it takes a village to raise a child – it certainly takes a village to start a charity. I’ve been so proud of the support that the charity has had from everyone who is involved: Trustees, our users, our sites, staff, and supporters.”
